Clean BC’s, Go Electric says that in BC, the single largest source of emissions is transport. This is why it’s more important now than ever to have an EV Ready plan ready.  

In line with CleanBC’s roadmap to 2030, British Columbia plans to cut emissions made by transportation by one third. One way to reduce emissions is to endorse cleaner transport choices. One of the focal points for this is the ability for buildings to be EV ready. 

To aid with the costs, we can provide strata's or building owners with an EV Ready Plan. Doing this helps to prepare plans for the future.  

What is an EV ready plan? 

An EV Ready plan outlines the strategy of how a building can install a minimum of one electric vehicle parking space per residential unit.   

The plan considers the current electrical infrastructure as well as makes estimates and proposals to account for the building to be EV ready with installation and upgrades. 

To be EV ready, each parking space must have a termination point in an electrical wiring installation to power a level 2 electrical vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) 

An EV ready plan looks at how a building can provide each parking stall with the infrastructure to be EV ready. This involves assessing the building's current electrical capacity and then analyzing the required charging power should all spaces be used by EV in the future and providing recommendations on power based on this.  

Why do you need an EV ready plan? 

By being EV ready you are making a conscious choice to travel in a more efficient way. You also open the door to rebates being offered by BC Hydro. 

Owners of apartments, condominiums and townhome complexes could get a rebate of 75% of the cost of an EV Ready plan. 

BC Hydro are offering up to $3,000 or 75% rebates on EV Ready Plans and up to $120,000 for EV ready infrastructure per apartment, condo or townhome complex.  

To be eligible for the EV Ready infrastructure rebate, you must have an EV Ready plan in place.
